Cuban Coffee is now available in the U.S.A.
On August 16, 2016, Nespresso’s Cafecito de Cuba coffee officially became available to U.S. coffee lovers. This makes it the very first time and first company to re-introduce Cuban coffee to the U.S. market in more than 50 years! It is a pretty historic moment for consumers and coffee lovers around the country. It is very likely that the limited edition coffee will sell out fast, so a second wave of the Cafecito de Cuba will be released some time in late September. Now that relations between Cuba and the U.S. restored diplomatic relations on 20 July 2015, which had been severed in 1961 during the Cold War, coffee produced by independent Cuban entrepreneurs can finally be imported.

- Cafecito de Cuba Flavor Profile: In Cuba, a short cup of black coffee, which is referred to as a “cafecito,” is a core part of the lifestyle and culture. With an intensity of ten on Nespresso’s scale of one to twelve, Cafecito de Cuba has an incomparable rich roasted character, which boasts powerful and delightful smoky notes of wood and tobacco leaves. With a dense velvety texture, it is best enjoyed as a traditional short ristretto and is brewed using the Nespresso’s Original Line range of machines. Cafecito de Cuba can also be enjoyed as a traditional Cubano recipe, where raw cane sugar is added to the first drops of coffee. For those who enjoy their coffee with milk, the profile of Cafecito de Cuba transforms beautifully. With just a dash, the rich and intense roasted character of the coffee remains, revealing a delightful nutty flavor. Meanwhile, the rich creamy foam of a Latte Macchiato reveals brown caramel and chocolate notes, while also preserving the complex roasted character of the Grand Cru.
- Recycling: Like all Nespresso coffees, Cafecito de Cuba is packaged in aluminum, a material that preserves the quality and freshness of the coffee, and can be recycled over and over again. Nespresso is committed to make recycling as easy as possible for our consumers. In the contiguous U.S., Nespresso has 100% collection capacity for used capsules, including several options. This includes a partnership with UPS that spans 48 states and includes 88,000 drop-off locations. Consumers can also recycle used capsules at over 500 collection points at Nespresso Boutiques across the country and at drop-off locations at select retail partners.
